Legal practice management, done properly

Most legal software approximates the rules. This one enforces them.

Generic tools treat a country's rules as settings you can switch off. We build them into the engine. The client ledger refuses to overdraw a matter. The billing gate refuses an invoice without the costs disclosure your regime requires. Every threshold, rate and deadline is read from the primary source, dated, and shown with its citation, so your compliance officer can check our work rather than take it on trust.

Why it works this way

Built by a lawyer who reads the rules.

TKJ Legal was designed by a dual-qualified lawyer: someone who has had to get client money, costs disclosure and conflicts right in practice, not in theory. The rules were understood first, then written into the software. That is why the compliance is drawn from primary law and the trust accounting is built the way a regulator expects. Most legal software is built the other way around, by engineers approximating rules they have never had to apply.

The whole practice, in one place

Everything a firm runs on, built to fit together.

The hard part, done right

Client and trust accounting

The part most software gets wrong. An append-only client-account ledger that cannot be quietly edited, reconciliation on your regime's cadence, statutory deposits and interest handled to the rule. Correct by design, not by reminder.

no overdraw · append only · reconciled

Matters & documents

Every matter, file and version, searchable and organised.

Time, billing & invoices

Capture time, raise compliant bills, track what is owed.

Calendar & deadlines

Regime deadlines calculated from the rule, not guessed.

Conflict checks

Search parties and former names before you open a file.

Client portal

A branded, secure space for clients to share and sign.

AI assistant

Helps with the work, and refuses to move money, bill without a disclosure, cross between firms or invent an answer.

01

Compliance you can point to.

Nothing in the engine ships on memory. Each rule is read at the primary source, recorded with its citation and the date it was verified. When the law changes, we read the change and date it again. Your COLP or compliance partner gets citations, not assurances.

SRA Accounts Rules r 8.3 · verified 2026
s 69 Solicitors Act 1974 · one calendar month
source recorded · point-in-time dated

02

Client money the engine protects.

A posted ledger entry cannot be edited or deleted, only reversed by a further entry. Overdrawing a client balance is refused as it happens, not found in a later audit. Reconciliation, residual balances and statutory deposits follow your regime. The financial record is right because the software will not let it be wrong.

Refused withdrawal would overdraw the matter
Reversal corrections leave an honest trail
append only · no silent edit

03

Security in the foundations, and stated plainly.

Each firm's data is isolated by the database itself, not by application logic. The system refuses to start on a configuration that would weaken that. Backups leave the machine encrypted, to a key you hold, so neither we nor the hosting provider can read them. And we tell you, in writing, what we do not yet have.

Isolated tenant separation enforced by the database
Encrypted off-site backups, keys held by the firm
refuses unsafe config · restore tested

Built for more than one legal system

One platform, each jurisdiction's own law.

The same engine, rebuilt for each market from that market's own rules and hosted in its own region, so your clients' records stay where they belong.

We would rather be trusted than impressive.

We hold no SOC 2 report and no ISO 27001 certificate yet, and we say so here rather than hope you do not ask. Every control we describe is one we have tested and can show you. A control nobody has exercised is a belief, not a control, and beliefs are not what your clients are paying you to keep safe.

See it on the way your firm actually works.

Bring a real matter and a real reconciliation. We will show you how the engine handles them in your jurisdiction, and where it draws the line.
